My dear friend Mark Lyons is doing glass repair on one of the very few bits of the old house that have survived the years and that will continue in this new incarnation.  I was really hoping that there would be some hints of what it was like in 1885 that would be found as the walls came down, but there was nothing.  These windows were part of the large, street facing window in the second floor.  That window is still in the process of being recreated in its original form, and these pieces will be re-fit into the same places that they had occupied for the last 130 years - except that this time, they will be on the interior, protected from the elements by the new windows which should show up in about another week.  But first, these guys will get a cleaning, a new zinc frame, and a bit of other touch up (like filling the hole that is plugged by a piece of chewing gum). I'm not interested in trying to make them perfect or restoring them to original state... I think the imperfections and age of materials tells a cool story about their 'lives' and so this patina will remain.
