Its been about two weeks since demo began in the Garden unit.  At this point, it has been almost completely stripped to its shell, with the exception of some remaining floor joists that will probably disappear today.  Cement footings have been poured and new structural steel beams are up and in place.  Its still hard to perceive what is happening here, I am still constantly referring to the blueprints to grasp it all.

With all the steel now up, the focus will now turn to removal of the remainder of the building utilities, and a focus on the floor in this space - leveling, probably some removal of dirt and an old cement area, new water and gas connection and a look at the condition of the sewer connection.  Layout of the plumbing that will need to be in place before the new cement floor is poured. And with that plan in place, Mike Ackman, the HVAC specialist and owner of  MRA Comfort Solutions can do his thing to get the radiant heat tubing embedded on top of all of that. So ... still a "few" items to take care of before work can start on the next level up.

Prep work continues on the exterior with Chicago stone mason Jan Glowacki from Professional Masonry Restoration.  Jan has a lot of experience restoring historic stone and brick in Chicago, so I'm happy to have him engaged.  He provided a concise scope of work, the best I've seen so far,  and exactly what I was looking for.

The kitchen design from Eric Passman at Builder’s Cabinet Supply - 401 North Western Ave and the windows are both areas now undergoing the check-recheck-check again process before orders get placed.  I'm happy to have Eugene O'Donoghue from O'Donoghue Builders and Tony Stavish from AW Stavish Designs as hands on experts to help guide this process.
